Warm Chai Smoothie

For a warm smoothie use warm tea. For a cold smoothie chill the tea before adding to the blend. If using warm liquids take extra care because heat rises. Remove the center plug from the blender lid and blend starting on a lower speed, gradually increasing.

Ingredients:

  • 2 Chai Spice tea bags (we used a Rooibos Chai)
  • 1 fresh banana, sliced
  • 1⁄2 cup boiling water
  • 1⁄2 cup coconut milk
  • 12 almonds
  • 1 date

Directions

  1. Pour 1⁄2 boiling water over 2 chai tea bags
  2. Steep until very strong
  3. Cut and put 1 fresh banana in the blend
  4. Add almonds, hot tea, 1 date for sweetness, and 1⁄2 cup coconut milk
  5. Take centre plug out of the blender cap or leave off to allow hot air from the hot tea to escape
  6. Move dial to low and gently blend
  7. Serve into a mug and garnish with chai masala spice and cinnamon
  8. Add additional sweetener to taste.
  9. Enjoy!
